Howard Court is fully licensed so that you can hold your civil marriage ceremony here. Most couples choose to get married in The Barn, with either the hay manger or the curtain of fairy lights as the backdrop to their ceremony. The Barn comfortably holds 100 people for the wedding ceremony.
The Courtyard and The Riverside Cabin are also licensed, so if the weather is on your side you can opt for an outdoor ceremony.
The Stable adjoins The Barn, allowing for a seamless flow between your marriage ceremony and wedding reception.
Here, your guests will enjoy their wedding ‘breakfast’ – whether that’s a formal sit-down meal, afternoon tea or fish ‘n’ chips - anything goes!
Howard Court provides trestle tables free of charge, or you can source your own round tables if you prefer. The Stable comfortably seats 100 people.
Once the dining is over, we will effortlessly transform The Barn and The Stable into a magical space for your evening celebrations, ensuring everything is just right for the cutting of the cake, that all-important first dance, and then partying hard until midnight. We can hold up to 150 guests for the evening do.
You wouldn’t believe this used to be home to several chickens! This space has now been transformed into a beautiful courtyard where guests can head out to after the wedding ceremony, to sip bubbly in the Yorkshire sunshine (in case of bad weather, The Barn can quickly be rearranged as an indoor drinks area).
In The Courtyard, guests can make use of the outdoor furniture (or straw bales if you want to go really rustic!) whilst being entertained by a magician, listening to a singer, or whatever you wish (The Courtyard has sockets so that amps, etc. can be plugged in), whilst we add the finishing touches to The Barn and The Stable, ready for your wedding reception. The Courtyard can still be used in the colder months, thanks to the cosy outdoor heaters.
As the sun sets, guests can enjoy The Courtyard as break-out space, with its pretty festoon lights.
Howard Court boasts two beautiful gardens that are included in the hire package. Guests can step out of the barn onto a gravelled terrace, which can be used to position all manner of catering vans, beer trucks, etc. to really individualise your wedding day. Further down the garden, you will find flowerbeds full of seasonal colour creating a beautiful backdrop for your group photographs, and beyond that a children’s swing and playhouse, to keep the little ones entertained.
Next to this is our ‘secret garden’, hidden away behind an evergreen hedge. This garden is less cultivated and more ‘wild’, making the perfect place for romantic newlywed photos, especially in spring when the fruit trees are full of blossom.
From the barns, couples and guests can follow the winding lantern path down to the river, where they will find our Riverside Cabin.
Formerly a fishing hut, The Riverside Cabin has been given a facelift and is now a wonderful addition to Howard Court where guests can sit and listen to the babble of the river, gather around a fire pit, or watched fireworks from the veranda. Entwined with fairy lights, The Riverside Cabin is also the perfect spot for those must-have sparkler photos!
